As the final step of any surgery, the suturing phase can be the ultimate determinant of a successful outcome. Unfortunately, it is often an afterthought. To suture with precision and finesse, the clinician must have a thorough understanding of Anatomy, Biology, and Technique. This workshop will focus on established scientific principles and extensive case histories based on over forty years of perio-implant surgical experience. Along with case histories and technique videos, participants will practice on the provided silicone models that they can take home to continue practicing on. In addition, we will have a detailed review of commercially available products. A variety of instruments and suture materials will be available to explore. Participants will leave this workshop with the necessary tools to properly evaluate and execute any suturing situation with precision and finesse.
Understand the critical role of suturing in wound healing and successful surgical outcomes.
Describe how periodontists look at regional anatomy and tissue type in determining the suturing approach.
Demonstrate clincal proficiency in selecting and executing the appropriate materials, instruments and suturing technique for the particlar procedure. Use silicone models from the course to practice what was learned.
