This course is designed to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate dental care for individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Special Needs encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, and this course will focus on enabling dental professionals to distinguish common IDD types, recognize disparities in care, and implement appropriate treatment strategies and accommodations in the dental office. This course combines didactic learning with practical demonstrations and case studies, enabling dental professionals to enhance their expertise in providing compassionate and effective dental care for IDD patients. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of IDD, the tools to address disparities in care, and the ability to plan and execute dental treatments that accommodate the unique needs of IDD patients, ultimately improving the oral health and quality of life for this patient population.
