James W. W. McCreight, DDS, known as Dr. Jim, is a native of Davenport, Iowa. He began his academic journey at Luther College, earning a BA in biology in 1991. Dr. Jim then pursued his dental degree (DDS) at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, graduating in 1995. A distinguished student, he was chosen by the dental faculty to deliver the commencement address for the graduating dental and hygiene classes that year.
Following graduation, Dr. Jim furthered his professional training by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program in 1996 through the Naval Dental Center of San Diego, California. During this period, he served as a commissioned officer (lieutenant) in the Navy. His naval service included working at dental clinics in San Diego and Yuma, Arizona, where he provided care to active-duty Navy and Marine personnel.
In 1998, Dr. Jim and his wife and partner, Dr. Wendy McCreight, established McCreight Progressive Dentistry (originally named Yampa Valley Dental and Associates, PC). Expanding their commitment to wellness, the Drs. McCreight founded Steamboat Face and Body, LLC in 2024, offering comprehensive face, mind, and body wellness treatments within their existing dental practice.
Dr. Jim has recently returned to the lecture circuit, speaking for BTL Industries/Aesthetics and Electro-Medical Systems (EMS) on the subject of integrating a dental wellness model into the general dental practice.
