Russell P. Pesavento, DDS, PhD (Assistant Professor) currently teaches “Pharmacology” for D2 students and “Structure, Organization and Regulation of Dental Healthcare and Research” for dental residents at UIC College of Dentistry (COD). In general, our laboratory specializes in the use of modern inorganic chemistry and formulation design to improve oral health outcomes in high-risk populations. This involves the use of inexpensive starting materials and simplified synthetic schemes to produce large scale therapeutics for potential use in those with limited access to dental care and of low socioeconomic status. Currently, our lab consists of a mixture of highly trained clinicians and basic scientists who engage in both translational science and research that spans across the UIC campus with multiple collaborations outside the institution.
