Dr. Carolina Garcia, DDS, MS, MS, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. She is a Colombian-born and raised Dentist who graduated in 1994, and later earned an M.S. in Prosthodontics and a Master’s in University Education from her home country. In 2015, she earned a Master's in Oral Science and a Certificate in Operative Dentistry from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She is currently the Vice President of the Greater Chicago Hispanic Dental Association and is actively involved in outreach programs for Hispanic populations.
Her clinical career began in 1995 in Bogotá, Colombia, where she also owned a private practice until 2012. That year, she moved to Iowa City to pursue her academic goal of becoming a faculty member, serving in clinical and preclinical teaching roles. Her teaching experience encompasses undergraduate and graduate programs, beginning in Colombia in 1996. She currently teaches in the undergraduate program.
Dr. Garcia’s passion for human dental occlusion has driven her to explore diverse philosophies, treat patients, and design curricular components in Spanish and English, integrated with Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. Her work emphasizes a practical, integrative, and approachable perspective on human mastication applicable to daily dentistry.
Her bilingual academic portfolio of lectures engages audiences through a conversational teaching style that encourages participants to recognize and value the role of occlusion in clinical practice.
