Susan Cotten is the CEO of Oral Cancer Consulting and Oral Cancer Free. She is a nationally recognized oral cancer screening expert, dental educator, and creator of The Cotten Method™ of Screening. She equips dental professionals with the confidence, clinical skills, and strategies to detect oral and oropharyngeal cancer early—while reducing the risk of liability. With more than 60,000 screenings performed, Susan has led many free screening events, including those at the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention and the Denver Broncos Health and Wellness Expo. She serves as Dental Lead for the Alliance for HPV Free Colorado, is a 2018 Sunstar RDH Award of Distinction recipient, a key opinion leader for several dental companies, and sits on advisory boards for RDH Magazine and the Oral Cancer Foundation. She is also an instructor for the National Network of Healthcare Hygienists. In addition, Susan founded M.A.D (Make a Difference) for Healthy Smiles as a member of Donny Osmond’s Make a Difference program. Known for her heart, humor, and decades of experience, she inspires dental professionals and teams to elevate their impact—one screening at a time. On a personal note, she loves walking the beaches of Hawaii, watching college football, and is a former country dance competitor.
