Various dental lasers have been employed for soft-tissue periodontal therapy since the 1990s. The use of lasers is considered effective and suitable for treating a variety of periodontal and peri-implant diseases. With increasing evidence for benefits, photo-therapy plays an important role in wound healing/tissue regeneration in the treatment of oral diseases. This lecture will feature select laser treatment options for the management of disease around teeth and dental implants using the Nd: YAG laser and compare them to traditional surgical methods.

Upon completion, participant will be familiar with historically implemented traditional periodontal therapy techniques as a basis of laser methods.
Attendees will be shown through clinical cases basic principles of laser physics and treatment principles.
